THE RAIN AND THE FLOOD

a partition of clouds and an edge to calm,
one array of silence,
one array of sullenness,
one array of something we no longer indent,
every rapid of light a fluid bubble
over leaf and wind
glitter and pause
and still the river flows taking with it
